A new report on generative AI sets strategic directions for business schools to advance education and lead boldly in a rapidly changing environment.

Tampa Fla. USA (April 15, 2024)— AACSB International (AACSB) released a report that explores how business schools can better understand and embrace the capabilities of generative AI (GenAI) for elevated stakeholder value. Building Future-Ready Business Schools With Generative AI takes an in-depth look at potential threats and opportunities for business education, outlining ways that schools can efficiently use GenAI in their curriculum and learner experiences, as well as toward achieving institutional goals.

The report is informed by research and discussions led by AACSB’s Innovation Committee, composed of global higher education and business leaders, and other visionary thinkers. Through four strategic pathways, business schools can leverage GenAI to positively impact their institutions:

  • Define their purpose
  • Adopt a human-centered approach
  • Embrace (intentional) experimentation
  • Align governance with infrastructure maturity

"Generative AI is ushering in a new era of business and as business educators, it is our responsibility not only to actively embrace and continually learn about the technology ourselves, but also to prepare the next generation of agile and AI-savvy leaders," said Sherif Kamel, who is dean of the School of Business at The American University in Cairo and also serves as vice chair-chair elect of the AACSB Board of Directors as well as chair of the AACSB Innovation Committee.

He continues, "This report outlines ways business school leaders and stakeholders can harness GenAI to enhance and innovate their teaching, research, and program delivery, but also how they can leverage it in a human-centered and purpose-driven way."

The impacts of GenAI are just beginning to unfold in education, business, and society, and this report serves as a catalyst to further explore, discuss, and study the dynamics of this evolving digital technology.
