U.S. Air Force Academy

The U.S. Air Force Academy is one of five service academies; the Academy provides a four year professional development and educational program to commission officers into the Air Force, and now into the Space Force. The Academy is an undergraduate institution located on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains outside of Colorado Springs. The Academy has a cadet study body who are appointed from all 50 states and U.S. territories. By law, candidates must be between 17 and 23 years old at admission. Cadet development utilizes four conceptual pillars: character development, academics, military training, and athletics.
Every cadet has a full academic scholarship including room, board, and salary that fully covers their four year program. The required studies includes a robust general education, or core, program of classwork; each graduate will earn a Bachelor of Science degree. Cadets will declare their academic major by their third academic semester. The Management major is the most popular choice for academic major; the Department of Management is the Academy academic unit that offers business and management courses. As one of twenty academic departments, it is part of the Social Science division, which also includes departments of law, political science, behavioral science, military studies, and economics. The institution and our Management major is unambiguously teaching-focused. Class sizes are quite small and faculty members are known for their availability to cadets.
