School of Management, Tianjin University of Technology

Tianjin, as the economic center of northern China, is where Tianjin University of Technology is located.

Since 1979 when the institution opened its doors to the first enrollments,  with China's policy of reform and opening up,

TUT has provided a large number of talents for society. Its motto is valuing virtue and capacity, pursuing truth and innovation.

Facilities are well equipped to meet all teaching, learning and research needs, with grounds covering more than 18 square kilometers.

The newly-built, four high-end, smart classrooms support enhanced student learning and improved teaching effectiveness. 

At the same time, more than ten laboratories across degree programs, widely used by faculty members and students, provide them with access to management-specific practical skills commonly used within a large network of corporations.

SoM currently has a diverse body of nearly 140 faculty members, of whom 32 are professors, and 16 are doctoral supervisors.

Faculty and academic impact has always been the focus of SoM, represented by one National Outstanding Teacher and two Tianjin Outstanding Teachers.

A large number of discipline leaders or equivalents build up a higher-level team and over one third of these have overseas educational background.

Notable achievements have been made in research such as academic and corporate grants in the past five years, reaching a total of approximately $10.2 million.

Significant progress has been achieved in increasing publications in the globally impactful journals, as many as nearly 400.

Large scale corporate and government sponsored grants are undertaken,

such as PPP Franchise Project of the 4th Line in Beijing Metro, BT Model Project of 5th Line in Shenzhen Metro, and Transit Construction Project for Tianjin Z4 Rail.

SoM offers one doctoral degree program in management science and engineering, two academic degree programs including management science and engineering, and business administration.

Additionally we offer three professional degree programs including MEM, MPAcc and MBA.

Meanwhile, the School is home to two key research bases for humanities and social sciences of Tianjin, which are, “Research Center of Investment and Engineering Cost” and “Research Center of Circular Economy and Sustainable Development of Enterprises”.

SoM also hosts “China’s major Engineering Technology ‘Going global’ Investment Mode and Control Think Tank” chosen among Tianjin’s first twelve Think Tanks in colleges and universities, for research grant allocation by Tianjin government.

Our school has established international collaborations with outstanding universities, headquartered in Canada, Japan, USA, France and Finland, covering different degree programs.

One joint program with Thompson Rivers University of Canada has produced thousands of students since it was initiated in 2002.

The commitment to teaching excellence often makes our school winners of higher education awards,  such as National Teaching Achievement Award, National-level Excellent Teaching Team,

National Quality Course, National Characteristic Major, among others.

Our students have won awards in the subjects, the arts and athletic competitions, such as

Active teaching and research efforts and discipline-specific delivery modes helps to develop high-quality talents entering society.

In recent years, the university-industry cooperation involves over 100 companies that provide internship bases, offer job opportunities and build workshops or labs.

SoM boasts an extensive number of important key stakeholders, including, but not limited to, Global top 500 corporations, such as State Grid Corporation of China, China Construction Bank and Toyota. Additionally, many regional large-sized companies are our key stakeholders.

As of the present, over 700 alumni and 50 companies have made donation or co-worked on projects to establish funds for teaching and research.

SoM Alumni Association is comprised of a diverse network of no less than 20,000 graduates, making contributions and creating a positive impact on society.

The mission of SoM is to contribute business knowledge and develop management professionals with social responsibility and a global mindset for regional growth. 

Therefore, our mission-driven strategy is focused on “FAST”: Faculty enhancement, Academic focus, Student first, and Think globally.
