The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta was established as the first national Institute in November 1961 for Post-Graduate studies and Research in Management by the Government of India in in collaboration with Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, The Ford Foundation and Indian industry. It is triple accredited Institute (AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS) and exclusive Indian partner of CEMS. The Institute presently offers 4 diploma programmes and a Fellow Programme. The Post Graduate Programme which is a full time, two year residential programme has been consistently ranked by Financial Times among the Top 20 Masters in Management Programmes in the world. IIMC’s three year average FT-MIM ranking is currently 16. The Institute has 84 core Faculty members, 100% of them hold Doctoral degree and are involved in teaching, training, research, consulting and scholarly works. Some of their scholarly works are published in journals like – Harvard Business Review, Organization Science, European Journal of Operations Research, Biometrika and Annals of Statistics The Institute's office arranges on-campus interviews for all students in the first year and at the end of their second year. Some of the regular recruiters are: Mckinsey, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Bain, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, BCG, Deutsche Bank, Google, P and G. Alumni of the two tier programme today occupy leadership positions worldwide. The alumni maintain a close relation with the Institute, helping each other in their growth.
