Susan Fournier

Susan Fournier is the Allen Questrom Professor and Dean at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business. Under her leadership, the school advances its mission of developing leaders who leverage the power of business to create value for the world.
Fournier is in her 30th year as a marketing academic, 19 of these at Questrom. In 2018, she became Questrom’s first woman dean and its first academic dean in more than 40 years. Prior to Questrom, Fournier served on the faculties of Harvard Business School and Dartmouth College’s Tuck Business School and spent 10 years in various consulting, advertising, market research, and corporate board roles. She earned her PhD from the University of Florida, her MS from the Pennsylvania State University, and her undergraduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Fournier serves on the board of the business school accrediting organization AACSB.
With more than 33,000 Google Scholar citations, Fournier’s research on brands, brand communities, customer satisfaction, the branding-shareholder value link, brand risk, and the consumers’ relationships with brands is among the most cited in the marketing academy, placing her in the top 2 percent of all scientific researchers. Fournier is the author of best-selling case studies that bring her research into business schools globally. In 2022, Fournier was honored as an Association for Consumer Research Fellow in recognition of her career contributions.
