Finding Balance: Thriving Academically and Personally

Ida Kesner, dean of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, shares the key to students achieving mental wellness during business school.

Transcript

Ida Kesner: [0:15] Balance is absolutely the key to mental wellness. There is no question about it. We need to teach students today how to maintain balance in their life. Balance is more than just studies. Balance means that you invite a social life, that you can experience all that the university setting has to offer.

[0:39] Balance means that you take care of yourself physically, that you eat right, that you get enough rest, that you get exercise. Yes, balance also means that you engage in your studies so that you can be successful and reduce the stress level by taking each step and succeeding at each step in the path.

[0:58] The key to a student's mental wellness is balance across emotional wellness, mental wellness, physical wellness.
