Mitchell D. Cohen is the vice chair of PricewaterhouseCoopers, responsible for the New York Metro region, as well as the firm’s network alignment leader. Cohen has been with PwC for 33 years—the last 22 as a partner. During this time, he has served a number of Fortune 500 telecom and technology clients. He has had great professional success, becoming the strategy leader for PwC's U.S. assurance practice in 2007, and assumed the role of U.S. strategy leader in 2009, joining the firm’s U.S. leadership team. He was named the New York Metro regional vice chair in 2012, and in 2013 Cohen became the U.S. firm’s network alignment leader.

In 2010, in addition to his other senior leadership duties at PwC, Cohen took on the role as the partner in charge of corporate responsibility (CR). He boldly advocated and marshaled resources for greater impact through the company’s CR commitments. During challenging financial years when many other companies saw a decrease in funding in broad sustainability issues, PwC experienced a rapid increase in dollar and resource investment, generating positive results.

Cohen has made an impact on community and social change by being an advocate for PwC's corporate responsibility. Under his leadership, the firm has seen a shift from 32 percent participation rates in the giving campaign to 58 percent. Probono work at PwC has moved from 0 USD to 20 million USD invested so far. The firm has seen a 38 percent reduction in its carbon footprint (and is now viewed as a leader in the industry). And now, 88 percent of PwC's employees participate in some sort of corporate responsibility initiative.

As a contribution to greater society, in 2015 Cohen coauthored the book The Self-Made Billionaire Effect: How Extreme Producers Create Massive Value. Ahead of its January release, Business Insider selected the book as one of the best business books of 2015.

Further, Cohen has had an impact on the community by having a passion for giving back to his alma mater. A true testament to Mitch’s character, was in 2011 when he took on the role as chair of Smeal’s Campaign Committee. In a time of transition on the committee, Cohen emerged as a leader and helped refocus Smeal’s fundraising efforts during a very difficult time for the university. He helped the college nearly reach the 100 million USD campaign goal. Cohen is also a member of the Smeal Accounting Advisory Board and has established the Mitchell and Carri Cohen Trustee Scholarship, which has so far been awarded to three Smeal students.
