The Doctoral Faculty Shortage—Light at the End of the Tunnel

There is no greater threat to the future of quality management education than the growing business doctoral faculty shortage. For the last decade and a half, management education has witnessed dwindling doctoral program graduates while the world’s student population has exploded. For most business schools seeking global recognition and AACSB accreditation, the doctoral faculty shortage is the most difficult challenge in their journey to excellence. With more than 12,000 business schools in over 200 countries and an estimated 2,000 doctorates graduating from AACSB-accredited schools last year, I worry about the state of management education ten and twenty years from now.   [more]
